Supraba Liveaboard
About us
Our ship is named after goddess Supraba: according to the Javanese Mahabarata, she is the most beautiful goddess in Khayangan (the abode of gods), wife of Arjuna. The tale of Supraba is contained in the Arjunawiwaha, the first narrative poem composed in ancient Javanese derived from Sanskrit literature.
The figurehead of goddess Supraba decorating the prow represents the spirit of the ship, watching the sea, guiding and protecting the voyage.
SuprabA is a medium size phinisi "lambo", built for open sea cruises and diving by skilled craftsmen in Tanah Beru, South Sulawesi with traditional methods and materials (Pinisi, art of boatbuilding in South Sulawesi, UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity).
The design of SuprabA merges South Sulawesi boat building tradition with western classic sailing yachts. Interiors are in natural wood with a chromatic combination of teak and ironwood, decorated with antique lamps and provided with traditional bronze portholes. Although furnished with all modern commodities, SuprabA retains her character of a sturdy classic and adventurous seaworthy wooden ship for enjoying the pleasure of navigation, rather than a floating luxury hotel.
